Headaches and some solutions

For our class, Cure, we are supposed to find at least three types of medicines to treat a symptom. The symptom that I chose was a headache. For medications, we are supposed to find one over-the-counter medication, one prescription medication, and one home remedy. For medications, I chose the over-the-counter medicine that I chose was Advil. The way Advil works is by sending a chemical called Ibeprhopen which is an anti-inflammatory drug that blocks the body’s production of certain natural substances that cause inflammation. The effect is that this helps decrease swelling, pain, and fevers. The next remedy I have is a home remedy which would be drinking lots of water Dehydration can lead to heat exhaustion, especially in hot weather so staying hydrated with water can help elevate headaches. The next and final medication is a prescription medication called Maxalt the main ingredient that makes headaches go away is called sumatriptan the chemical blocks pain pathways in the brain which in turn makes your headache go away. Though it’s mainly used for migraines and that is what most doctors will prescribe it for. If you have repeated headaches and nothing is working to elevate them, contact your doctor and they might prescribe you a medication with sumatriptan like Maxalt. All of these medicines have their own strengths and weaknesses such as Advil may cause more headaches, upset stomachs, diarrhea, dizziness, etc. Some negatives from Maxalt are Weakness, drowsiness, dizziness, etc. In conclusion, I enjoyed this class and think I learned a lot about different types of medicines for different symptoms and illnesses.
