The Moral of the story

The purpose of this Action Project is to create and share our own fable.  Our fable should Teach a lesson to others based on our values or life code. I believe that we should treat people how we want to be treated. In my fable, the bear symbolizes a mean and nasty person unable to change and adapt. The fox, on the other hand, symbolizes a clever and kind survivor.

Tom arrived at work on Friday morning. Tom worked at Insure Co. Insure Co. was a company that helped elderly people get connected to resources like estate planning and funeral services and connected them with good medical care. Tom thought this company would be a perfect match for him because he was a kind person and loved helping people. This would have been the case if it wasn’t for his boss Richard. Richard was a mean, lazy, and small-minded bear that was hell-bent on ruining Tom’s life. At first, Tom thought it was his fault, but he realized that Richard was just biased towards him after a while. On this Friday, Tom opened his email and saw yet again that he didn’t get a bonus even though he did more work than everybody else. While reading the bad news in his email, Tom’s pointy fox ears perked up when he heard his manager Richard the bear's nasally voice call him into his office.

When Tom arrived, he was welcomed by a raging bear that stood over 7 feet tall. Tom spent the next hour and a half being scolded for not doing enough work even though he did more work than Richard. An open secret in the office was that Tom was gay. Everyone was ok with it, everybody, except Richard. Richard used every opportunity he could find to demean Tom by calling him vulgar homophonic words, not giving him bonuses, and passing him up for promotions and raises. Finally, Tom had enough and quit the company. On Tom’s way out the door, Richard told Tom that he would never find another job in the city again. Due to Richards’s connections, Tom couldn’t find any company willing to hire him.

So Tom started his own company called Foxy Corp. A company dedicated to training other companies about gender, equality, and fairness. Fast forward three years and Foxy Corp was the biggest company on the planet, and Tom, the richest man in existence. At work, one day, Tom gets an email about a company that wants to work with him, and it turns out to be his old company, and the person heading the project is Richard. Tom ponders, he thinks about his motto, treat others how you want to be treated, and while he feels petty towards Richerd, he decides to give him another chance. Tom sends an email to the old company CEO and finds out that Richerd will get a big promotion and raise if he completes this project. So Tom sends an email telling the other CEO all about what Richard did but offers to give him Richard special training. The CEO is appalled by Richards’s behavior and promises to take care of Richard. Fast forward a week later, and Tom hears through the grapevine that Richerd was not only fired from the old company, but the old company’s CEO used his connections to blacklist Richard from ever finding work in their industry again, making his degree useless. On the bright side, Tom continued a wonderful life, treating people with kindness and respect. He found a wolf husband and adopted three kids.
