Why I Believe Food Should Be a Human Right

In class, we are learning about the Sustainable Development Goals and we were supposed to write a post about one of them and why we think it should be a right. The goal I chose to write about is the Zero Hunger one. About 25,000 people die due to extreme hunger or thirst a day that's insane! I think that food should be a right, no one should have to worry about if they have enough money to afford food and rent to keep a roof over their head. I know that if I don't eat I start to get annoyed or angry super easily and that could affect your ability to keep a job. The main consequence of this not being fulfilled is that people will continue to die You should not have to ration your money for things that you think are important, food is important. If you were to look at Maslow's hierarchy of needs you would see that it's one of the lowest I think that it should be one of the highest. The main benefit of making this a right would be that people will be healthier and support their families easier. There are a bunch of other benefits like less crime because people aren't resorting to stealing food. you could do things yourself but what we really need is the government to help make this a right by making sure they have an education or making the food sustainable. In conclusion, I firmly believe that food should be a right, not something you need to worry about every time you want to have a meal
